Therapy for Individuals, Families and Couples, Trauma Work

About Me:

I have been in private practice for the past 25 years, working extensively with children, teens and adults who have struggled with relationship issues or who have experienced sexual abuse or domestic violence in their lives.  I have also helped numerous clients with depression and anxiety issues.  My focus has always been trauma work – I have great respect and admiration for my clients who have chosen to take that journey with me.  It is wonderful to see people gain feelings of empowerment and a sense of freedom once the triggering experiences are dealt with and then cleared.

I opened my San Luis Obispo practice 12 years ago after moving here from Denver, Colorado.  I graduated from the University of Denver with a Master's Degree in Social Work in 1999.  Early in my career, I was employed by the Jefferson County Department of Human Services where I provided family and individual therapy for clients to either prevent out-of-home placement or helping with reunification efforts.  The families I worked with struggled with substance abuse, anger management, domestic violence, child abuse and neglect, as well as many other issues.  It was a rewarding job and I was honored to have been part of helping so many families begin the healing process after generations of dysfunction.  I believe that we all have the capacity to grow and change.  I also believe that our relationships and connections with others shape who we are as human beings.

I love my job and can't imagine doing anything else.  My style is direct, practical and interactive and I tailor my approach to meet the unique needs of each client.

My practice is full and quite busy but I do my best to welcome new clients!
